Already October?

Hmmmm? Where did September go? Seems like it was the fastest month this year. We can't believe that not only is it October, but it's quickly approaching Wesley's birthday. He will be 2 on Sunday, and he starts preschool on Monday. Now that is exciting. One place for Jim to drop off in the morning and for me to pick up in the afternoon is great. It will save me at least 30 minutes in the afternoon. More time for outings to the park or soccer. Today I'm starting to coach Madeline and 10 of her little friends. The goal is to teach them the basic rules, passing, dribbling and shooting. I did a little class for 6 weeks last winter and will do another 6 weeks this fall. Hopefully it goes well.

In other news, let's see... Wes is getting to be quite the talker. He's still stringing 3 and 4 words together to form sentences. He's able to tell us or at least get across everything he means. His counting has improved now. He's moved on from nine, two, nine two, and added in the number five as well. He loves playing golf like his daddy. He will hangout in the back yard hitting golf balls now. He grabs the club and says, "one, two, three, boom" and then slams the ball. He's huge into dancing. That is probably his favorite thing to do now, he's always been a dancer I suppose, but lately all he requests is the show Hi-5, so he can sing and dance. The best part is he actually knows the dance "routines" that they do for each song. He's so cute. He is such a sweet, cute little boy. We are so proud of him and can't wait for his first day of preschool.

Madeline is still our bright and charming little butter bean. This is her dress up outfit, a crown, winter mittens, her great grandmother's pink shoes and a mini-dress. Looking good, huh? Anyhow, she got flying marks on her beginning of the year report card. She has the correct grip on the pencil to learn to write. She can write the first letter in her name and can pick out all the other letters of the alphabet (at random) and numbers 1 -20. She does skip 16 when she counts, that's pretty funny. She also knows all her shapes. As you can see they don't quiz on much at the beginning of the year. They told us she's very smart, she comprehends everything they say-- all the books they read-- etc, and gets exasperated by the teachers when they ask her questions that are really easy. She's a class leader and gets many of the more shy children involved. They also said she's "strong willed" which is a nice teacher way of saying she's stubborn. But hey, we already knew that. From the time she was just a small toddler, we knew she was "strong willed" and independent.

Ok more this weekend. We'll have soccer, parks and the birthday party to report on.
